The International Mineralogical Association PhD Student award is intended to honor and support outstanding students by providing them the opportunity to present their research at an international level to forge new collaborations and ideas, and further develop their career.

The award is intended to support financially the student participation in an international conference with a strong involvement of the IMA.

Anyone who is enrolled in, and is still within the first to fifth years of, a full-time PhD program in mineralogy (or a closely related discipline) is eligible to apply.

Applicant should provide a CV (including a list of publications), a letter of support from their advisor, and a cover letter detailing their PhD project and achievements, and explaining how this award will benefit their research and professional development.

The next IMA PhD student Awards will be bestowed in summer 2024 at EMC2024, Dublin, Ireland. Deadline and procedure for application will be communicated early 2024.

In 2024, the evaluation will be lead by the newly formed IMA PhD student Award committee, compose of Sylvie Demouchy (IMA secretary), Hiroaki Ohfuji (councillor), Desh Chetty (councillor), Shauna Morrison (councillor) and Patrick Cordier (external referee).
