Report of IMA Meetings at EMC 2024 Dublin
During EMC 2024 in Dublin on 18-23 August, three IMA Council Meetings and two Business Meetings were held. All the meetings were held in a hybrid format with participants primarily in person and some in remote.
EMC Plenary Talk by Prof. Patricia Dove, 2022 IMA Medalist
Plenary talk by Patricia Dove, 2022 IMA Medalist, will be presented at EMC 2024, Dublin on Thursday, August 22 (AM 8:30-9:30).
The title of her talk is “The onset of biological crystallization: Tuning the timing and placement of mineral nucleation”.
Agendas of IMA Business Meetings at EMC 2024 Dublin
The agendas of IMA Business Meetings to be held during ECM 2024 Dublin are now available. The meetings will be held in a hybrid format, with face-to-face meetings in principle, but with online attendance also possible. Please note that voting for the election of new IMA Officers/Council Members will take place at the 2nd Business Meeting. See the Slate of Nominees for the candidates.
Batoniite (2023 the Mineral of the Year)
For 2023 the “Mineral of the Year” award has been assigned to batoniite. The mineral was discovered in a sample collected at the Cetine di Cotorniano mine, Siena Province, Tuscany, Italy, and was fully characterized by a research team lead by Daniela Mauro from the Department of Earth Sciences, University of Pisa, Italy.
